Experience with an Eden D115?

I was recently shopping for 2x15 cabs and tried the Eden 2x15. It was the 4 ohm, 400 watt model and I don't think it had a tweeter. I liked it. It was full but not too boomy. Perfect for fingerstyle. I compared it to the 410xlt and prefered the 2x15 because it was fuller and larger sounding. It was not "slower". I also prefered the Eden 2x15 to the Ampeg and current Mesa Boogie 2x15 cabs and liked the Eden better. I ended up getting an older Mesa Diesel 2x15 (for $300 on Ebay) which I love. If I had bought something new it would have been the Eden.

I read somewhere that Eden designed that cab for a vintage sound and used lower wattage, stamped-frame drivers for that purpose. My Mesa Diesel is a 400-watt cab too and seems to share a similar sound. This is in contrast to most modern 15 cabs that seem to be optimized for maximum low end, use high-wattage heavy drivers, and are not good stand alone cabs.

ive got an eden 115t, i like it a lot. as a standalone cab it wouldnt really be loud enough for a loud rock band. it wouldnt cut thru either if that's what youre looking for. but it does have a great sound.

as a sub in a setup with other cabs it's kinda perfect. except it's not super duper loud. but how much can one expect from one lonely 15 anyway?

the tweeter, it's ok. i barely use the tweeter in the eden or the aguilar gs112 i pair it with. theyre turned up just a hair. they both sound really edgy to me. it might be the distortion i use though.

i just bought a boogie 400+ on ebay, trying it with the eden/aguilar cabs should be interesting. 'wieofjp sorry i vomited on the keys there a little

Does anyone have experience driving the 115T with the 4 ohm output on a GK800?
Might be getting a nice 115T in a trade, I'm guessing it would be fine using the 300 watt output on the GK right?
The cab is 8 ohm, but could I use the 4 ohm out if I'm not pushing it too hard?

I'm hoping this cab will be adequate for a 5 piece Americana/Roots/Rock band.
We're not crazy loud, but we get into some jams and we're not the quietest either.

Got rid of my 8x10 cause it's too damn big unless you have roadies.
Was using a Music Man 115 with Ampeg pre and GK power.
That rig is PLENTY loud.

Been using an SWR WM15 (older drink shelf model) lately.
"Loud" enough, but too much scoop going on in the midrange.

I play P and J basses with flats, really like the vintage tone.

Any thoughts on this setup? I'm planning on using a VT-Bass with sweepable mid mod as a Preamp through my GK in hopes to get that flip-top sound (sort of, can't replace a real tube flip)
I'm fairly optimistic about this one.

go read the ohms faq, using the 8 ohm 15 in the 4 ohm output is fine.

i found the cab to be ok. good for old school and mellow. not very aggressive or articulate, the model with the tweeter seemed to have quite a hole in the upper mid response, but the tweeter-less kinda did too. not the best 1x15 out there, but no slouch. The idea of putting a beefier speaker in there sounds cool (with all the usual caveats)

1. The 115 cab (if it is 8 ohms which they almost all are) will only be able to draw 8 ohms out from your GK. Meaning you wont get the full power from your amp unless you either get another 8 ohm cab, or avoid both and get a 4 ohm cab.

2. I play in a roots rock, surf & rockabilly band and our tone preferences are probably quite similar. Another option you could try is two lite 112 cabs. I often use two UL112 cabs with an LMII and I get all the volume I need. You could also look into the fEarful style 15/6 cabs which sound spectacular but you would likely need to get an amp that will give you 500w at 8 ohms.

3. Definitely get the VT Bass. I love mine and find it gives me a really punchy yet round tone. Its a permanent fixture on my pedal board no matter what amp I use.

The 115 can handle 200 watts and the 210 can handle 250 watts. I play with a 6 string and was wondering how much power could these cabs handle without burning out? My band is starting to play bigger gigs and i need some more power. Is there any way you can send 200w to the bottom 115 and send 250w to the 210 with a head rated at like 500w? Total noob. thanks for your time.

Hello, I'm looking for a 15" as a standalone cab and got an offer for a D115. I'm also condidering an Ampeg B-115E. Which one would you guys choose and why? I don't really care about a tweeter and like the sound of 15". The Ampeg is probably made cheap in China but I assume that the Eden will have quite an old speaker as they were made in the mid-90s. Does this matter? Any other sugesstions for an affordable 15"? Thanks!
