Has anyone played on these and do you know how they compare to the Ashdown ABM 410s? Looking to lighten my load but I want to know if I'll get a similar tone with these.

Yeah, I made the water heater explode and all of the stuffing come out of my kid's stuffed animals. :D

So far I've only been able to tinker around on them. Going to do a jam with a band with them this weekend and with the Ashdown 550 MiBass head if it comes in today. They have a lot of low end for such small cabs. They're just about as loud as my 4x10s, but you can tell the difference considering the fact that you're moving less air. With the same amp settings, they seem to have a little less mid range growl, but I think I'll be able to tweak the settings and get very close to the same sound I was getting before. They're very clean sounding and handle the low B well.

Their website says they're 48lbs, they feel lighter. They are a lot smaller than I expected. There's one handle on the top of the cab which I think is weird, but since they're so light, it's not a big deal. I'm excited to have a smaller lighter rig that so far seems like it should be able to hang with my big rig. I'm crossing my fingers that I won't regret downsizing and getting rid of my 410s and ABM EVO head.

Well, it was an expensive gamble. They sound great, I love how light and small they are, but they just don't hang with the loud guitars and drums I play with the way my 410s do. If I wasn't playing metal, they would be great. They just can't replace my 410s. So I am disappointed. I was really hoping to downsize and give my back a break. They're great cabs, just not for me. Looks like I may be getting rid of them.

On another note, I really dig the MiBass 550. I haven't cranked it through my 410s, but I did tinker around through them and it sounds great.

I saw a description (Bass Place) that stated they were "throaty bass, without a tweeter". It does not seem right for a 48 cabinet to cost almost double what a nice 410 costs (ABM 410). How does two of these compare to the Traynor 808 or the legendary SWR Henry VIII ?

No tweeter, but they are front ported. Pic below so you can see a size comparison (you can see the ports too). I haven't had any experience with the Traynor or SWR. I'm only comparing them to my ABM 410s. I'm assuming the price comes from the fact that they are NEO drivers and they are made in the UK. The Bass Place seems to be half the price of anywhere else. All of there Ashdown stuff has been half price for a while.

Thanks for posting the pic CoR Bass!

It looks like there are different versions as yours have offset drivers and the one on eBay does not. If I look very close at the eBay pic, it looks like it may have a tweeter in the middle as well. I bet they are a lower end line made in China.

I emailed Ashdown to get the specs.

UPDATE! I won't be getting rid of them, I'll just have 2 stacks! They work great with my Tool tribute band. I don't have to fight loud guitars and they have a great tone for it. Being able to carry one in each hand and both fitting in my trunk is a big plus as well.

Alright, there seem to be different variations of these cabs. I just received a new one that is sealed with no tweeter. I like is so far but have only been able to try it at low volumes. Lots of low end, punchy & articulate Power handling?
