experience with Fender '62 replacement pup?

I guess I should specify, I'm looking for a pup that can give me that aggressive full sound (I play in a heavy rock band drop C tuning) but I like to tone it down for jamming by myself and stuff sometimes. I've only read good things about the '62 but I wasn't sure about it's metal potential.
PS- I don't plan on using flats I don't like how the feel on my fingers. Picky? Yes. Oh well

I have the '62 on two basses and just love it. One bass, Squier VM P, has flats. The other, FrankenPJ, has rounds.

i think it would suit heavy rock better. the '62 could be called "polite" in comparison
I play in a hard rock band in Drop C# tuning and I would suggest getting the DiMarzio Model P's since you can go get a really aggressive tone with the tone knob up which IMO is a perfect tone hard rock/heavy music.
How much difference is there between the stock pickup in a Fender Highway One or American Special P bass and the '62 re-issue?
