I've been gigging small/mid sized clubs for 3 years with my Rumble 500 combo amp and no pedals. I've just purchased a new SansAmp Bass Driver and am wondering if anyone has any good/bad experience with this combination and/or words of advice? I have a gig tonight and think I'll take the SansAmp out for a test drive. Thanks!
I use a old SansAmp BDDI in front of either of my gigging heads that I decide to use that night, (a Mesa 800+ or a GK MB-500.)
The SansAmp is set to the cleanest settings I can figure how to get it set at, with major cuts in the bass and treble controls (9:00 position.)
Setting them that low gives me a mid-boost around 750, then I adjust from the amp what is needed for the room and my ears.
(Since you have the newer model SansAmp I'm not sure this still holds true.)
Running the SansAmp in front also allows for the amp to stay cleaner and go louder, (also to my ears.)
My chain: old, passive, Fender Jazz = SansAmp = Amp Head = Two, 8 ohm, 210 cabinets stacked as a vertical 410.
I've been gigging with this arrangement for many years and REALLY like it.
