I've played a 5 because of the option for low notes and for some position options. I like to play E, F and G on the B string on occasion.
I think I'd miss the position options more than the low notes.
I've always used the logic that a 5 is a 4 if you make the B a "thumb rest" until needed. Of course, since it's there intend to use it - tastefully - which is fine.
I think, obviously, you play and approach 4 string in a different way which again, is neither good or bad, right or wrong, just is.
If my 5 sold, I think I would get by just fine on a 4 and I doubt anyone would really notice - except that my 5 is a real looker. ;-)
