Explosion in Waco/West

Hey, everyone. Are y'all hearing about this explosion in your neck of the woods?

Please keep these people in your prayers. This is a tight-knit little czech community where everyone knows everyone and I'm already hearing rumors of possibly 60-70 dead. That would be just devestating. Man..just to think about that many dead in little West just hurts my heart.

I have so many friends around here that I'm already hearing are affected by this including damaged and flattened houses. My best friend got called in to the hospital to treat casualties.

This is horrible. Pray.

I've been watching the news for hours, absolutely tragic. I live in Burleson Tx (about an hour away) and even felt the blast. My dad was driving his 18 wheeler on I35 about 5 miles from west when the plant exploded, almost knocked him off the road!
Giving blood tomorrow! 1000 prayers their way.

Wow! Note to self, do not live near a fertilizer plant...

Or if you do, always be ready to bolt the second you smell smoke. We always thought about the fertilizer plant the same way you'd think of a munitions factory or a fireworks plant. That's why my MiL got her friends and family a couple of miles away when it happened. We lost the cat, though. Fingers crossed.

I'm noticing almost a complete lack of coverage on this chaos from national media outlets.

Social media is quiet.

Considering how off-the-wall the coverage was for 3 days, I find it compelling a significantly larger tragedy is basically ignored for coverage on how to lose weight while fighting inflammation.

As Marlat points out, it's certainly a top news story over here.

Though so was the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that hit Iran & Pakistan, which AFAIK wasn't mentioned here and didn't make much of a blip on social media.

It's the top headline on every national media source I've read this morning.
