I'm a bit late sticking my nose in buut...
I do spraypaintings for fun (you know, guys at the fair making a picture in like 5 minutes to techno music.....except I'm a woman in the garage taking 20 minute to rock music!) and have gone through dozens of cans of that brand of paint (and other ones, krylon, etc).
When doing the spraypaintings using the new tips/formula (the new stuff says "covers 2x as much" and the new tips frankly sucketh for spraypaintings), it's realllllly easy to put too much on. *light* coats are needed. If applying multiple coats, you have to do it within one hour or after at least a solid good weather week or the next coat messes with the first-bubbles, mud, bleeding, orange peel, etc. Ditto for the clear stuff. Do Not put it out in the sun to dry faster or every breeze will make dust stick to it (trust me....lots of ruined paintings). If you spray too heavy, you're sol and any repairs you try to do only make it look worse. I'm not imagining you're going to want to put on 10 coats of clear, I think you'll find lifting/crackling issues. I've got an old bass body I use as a stencil, I tried scraping some of the paint (no clear) off of it that's been on there for a few weeks and it took a sharp instrument to do so. Let that bass sit for a loooong (a week at least) time or a very short time before clearcoating. (we use clear to soften the layers underneath to do some effects, the within one hour or after a week to prevent mud rule applies).
As for the goo, I wouldn't use that goo gone if you've still got some painting to do. It'll leave an oily residue. Let the paint set for a week or so, and try some rubbing alcohol in an inconspicous place (one of your scraps will work well), don't rub hard just in case (not sure if the OSHA paint is a different formula than the regular).
Awesome mod btw.....been playing with the idea of striping one of my black low end basses down and doing spraypaintings on it..now I just might (love the stencil).
Oh, and btw, the new Frog type masking tape works better than the cheap blue stuff. You can also make stencils out of it by layering it on thin plastic (baggies!) and cutting the stencil out, then peeling the masking tape off the baggie and applying. No goo!

1.1A = ???
I get that it's part of the explosive sign, but what exactly does it mean?

1.1 is the explosive division, in this case an explosive that has a mass explosion hazard, and the A is the compatibility group, "A" being a "primary explosive substance".

I'm happy and kinda sad at the same time. Happy because the bass will be completed, and sad because this thread will end.

Looks good man. "That's HAWT" as Paris would say...
Been watching this thread since the beginning, great job.
