Just run it into the AUX or RETURN of a combo to bypass the preamp like a lot of us do. The rest is what you might call "icing," or extracurricular.

I actual do this at home everyday for practice. I would suggest a powered studio monitor for home use. I use a M-audio BX5 and it is loud enough for my desktop, and plenty of bottom, through a 5" speaker. I would expect a decent monitor with a 10" should kill. I know these days in the home studios a 10 is a big monitor. An amp might be louder but will probably color the sound too much for the modelers. I do have a little Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0/10 under my desk I can run this into, but the modelers don't really sound better than the amp itself. For effects and loopers it works.
I have tried to use this rig live, through the PA or my bass rig with mixed results. In that setting all the subtlety was lost. The effects options might be cool but you need a really good midi controller. I have a Irig Stomp I/O that works fine with my PC but not well with the ipad. Also these apps can be glitchy with random pops and noise. Worse of all is if they freeze or cut out. Bad at a gig.

The Head and the Mini are NOT compatible with BIAS FX. Just with BIAS AMP, I already checked that, so you loose all the goodies from FX in the chain. :-(

Your best bet is a powered speaker then, probably a PA speaker but a couple of companies make powered bass cabs.
GK definitely make a powered cab and I think Fender do but you would have to check on the input requirements.

So far I agree with all of you on that, I will most likely get one of those QSC, but I expecting to hear from anyone on the Rumble thread and see if they have tried iPad based Modelers plugged in on the Aux port of that Amp.

Powered PA works for Bass, Guitar, Keys, and Vocals. You can get a family jam going.
Everybody can sing along.

Powered PA can take more abuse from carried away bass and/or guitar players over studio monitors. If your were setting up a studio I'd highly recommend studio monitors. Not as loud, but designed for studios.

After some consideration, I decided to get a Rumble Studio 40, scheduled for delivery today. I will test the tone from my iPad to it using the headphone line, and I will also check using the "Thru" functionality on my guitar interface and see if the tone is affected or not. I read the manual a few times, there is a "clean tone" preset that will "probably" work well while using the 1/4 line coming from the guitar interface.
I still have my eyes on the Powered PA, but I will give the Rumble Studio a try first.
