I have a G&L L2000 Tribute bass for sale, it's been a good run but I'm moving from California to Minneapolis for college/pursuit of other interests.

It has a maple fretboard (looks like birds eye almost), translucent blue body. I was very unhappy with the original preamp on it. Completely ineffective. I splurged and had a preamp professionally installed. Original MFD pickups remain, and I am including the original preamp and hard shell carrying case included. I'm also throwing in a 12 ft Monster bass cable.

Great condition, hardly used.

It now has an East U-Retro 01 preamp in it. The new control options are:

Three Switches
a) active/passive
b) series/parallel
c) pickup selector for passive mode (since blend becomes deactivated)

Three Stacked Knobs
a) Volume/Blend
b)Bass (boost only, center frequency goes lower as boos increases)/Treble (boost and cut) plus a Bright pull option
c)Mid (boost and cut)/sweepable mid frequency select.

Now, it's an absolute power house. For those tone seekers, it can get a burpy Jeff Berlin, funky Rocco Prestia, punch-in-the-face Justin Chancellor, raunchy Bruce Thompson, pillowy Tony Levin or grindy-filthy Meshuggah.

For me though, I was happy picking a style and settling in, really exploring the sensitivity of the pickups and the rock solid feel of the construction.

Honestly though, playing live became so much easier after the improved preamp. I can find my own sonic pocket (thanks to the mid controls) between the kick drum and the keys. And shifting styles within sets brings out the nuances this bass can display on the fly.

Price is $850 obo shipping included. I'm having trouble uploading photos so please pm me with your email address so I can send pictures.

price drop $550 shipping included. I'm moving across the country and need to pare down.

No more hard shell case, so it'll be in a G&L soft carrying case.

For $550 you get a bass that goes for $700 new, a $300 preamp professionally installed, a hard shell case, and a Monster cable. If that's not a sweet deal I don't know what is.

Hmmm, that would be an interesting poll - of all talkbass classifieds, how many sold here vs sold through another site vs sold locally.

But yes, it's superb.

The picks don't do the fretboard justice, but it's almost a birdseye maple. Given that it's a tribute I doubt it really is, but there's a significant amount of that spotty look

thanks ubnomnar for posting these

Is the hard case still available?

Looks like a super sweet deal with a plush G&L gig bag.

Hmmm... what can I sell?
