Okay, I've got a thing for racing games.

Star Wars Racer Revenge - Meh
Mario Kart - Good
Crash Team Racing - Good
Gran Turismo - Awesome
Forza Motorsport- Awesome
Star Wars Racer - Awesome
Fast RMX - Awesome

Did I miss any?
Oh, wait...

F-ZEEEEROOOOOOOOOO

My favorite racing series, F-Zero, is coming to Nintendo Switch - with online multiplayer! The Nintendo 64 port will be available by the time you read this post.

I have been getting to know the SNES original and have really come to enjoy it. I know F-Zero GX the best and actually never played any of the others until recently, but am happily looking forward to F-Zero X as the N64 console was probably my favorite as a kid.

A lot of us fans were sort of left for dead. The last major game we had was GX, released almost 19 years ago. If you're a diehard, I probably don't need to explain why the long wait.

For those who don't know, Nintendo had basically felt they were out of "fresh ideas" and couldn't find a reason to release a new game. Nevermind reviving Mario Kart 8 and rehashing old tracks from the past, but it's a numbers game, I get it.

Now that the game is available (albeit for $50/yr) online, I will be starting a subscription for the Expansion pass because this is the closest thing to F-Zero for Switch that we get, and I want to incentivize the company to give us more.

Us fans are dying for a new installment, or even a remaster of the Gamecube favorite GX. But, if this is all they are going to do for us, might as well remind them that us F-Zero fans exist.

If anyone here wants to race, let me know...

F-Zero and F-Zero X are some of my favorite games of all time. I’m also a big fan of Mario Kart, Forza, and Gran Turismo, and I’m also a fan of the Switch and play on it regularly with my fiancé.

What I’m not a fan of is the new expansion subscription to get the N64 games on the Switch. Make no mistake - I love the N64 and would say it’s my favorite system of all time, but many of the games haven’t held up well and are arguably less enjoyable than SNES games upon revisit due to the clunky controls and first attempt at 3D gaming.

The base subscription of Nintendo Online is still years behind Xbox and PlayStation, and both of those systems provide backward compatibility and emulation that is just better. I’m also not a fan of the subscription model - let me buy the games I want at a reasonable price and have them, forever.

Lastly, I was really hoping for a N64 Mini. This seems to seal my fears that it is likely never going to come out. I use the SNES mini regularly, and it’s a fun platform. I’d love something similar with the N64, and I’d happily pay $200 for it - but again, I need to “own” it.

Yup. I'm there with you. Problem is, Nintendo knows people will still subscribe for life if these games can't be bought for life. It would be a financial mistake to release them online.

I could see a third party doing this!
