    Hello all,
I'm sadly thinking about getting rid of my Gibson Thunderbird in order to fund a trip to Peru. I bought it brand new in 2002 for $1400 before tax and it is still pretty much brand new. I was in a band but we only practiced every other weekend and would do shows 3-4 times a year. The only thing wrong with it is minor indentions on the back from a belt buckle.

Can someone tell me a fair price to get for it so I don't get ripped off? Like I said, it's my baby and I'll cry when it goes, but I plan on getting an email and phone # and staying in touch with her.

    Thanks in advance!

I think $1100 would be fair.

As a side note, the pink fluff is pretty awful.

Nice lookin' bass. I love the neck on a Thunderbird, just right kinda skinny. Good luck with it, (as in I hope you snap out of it and don't sell it)

Instead of making a new thread. What do you guys think would be a fair price for a 2 month old Gibson SG RI bass in perfect condition with the hard case? (NOT AN AD)

Is this the Thunderbird IV or the Thunderbird Studio?

You can probably get one for $800. The problem is with Gibsons is that its a buyers market in the bass world.

It looks to me that on the forearm bout there is some finish damage. It might just be your plushy hard shell case though. :p

I'm guessing from $850-1000 USD for that bass. Gibson basses aren't very popular in general so you might have trouble selling it. I suggest putting it on the 'bay with a $1 starting bid to see what you'll get. Set your reserve around $800 though.:)

Yeah, I think its overpriced, but figure those cost about $2000 new now. They also don't sell very well. :p

I saw it there as well. However some people value limited finishes and woods more than others (i.e. me)

I think 1400.00 a good price for that bass, I sold an '02 in natural for that much here in Seattle no problem......Very sought after in these parts because there has never really been a solid Gibson dealer here, locally they're very desirable as an alternate to the usual drinkwater shaped choices...........I know Bass Northwest would have it as a consignment if you can get it there, they're absolutely pro to deal with in every way.
