It is probably a fair trade or so the other comments say, but I have played a five string Modulus and was blown away. I have never played a JD, but it would have to be a monster.

You wouldn't be able to prise that modulus VJ from my cold dead hands if it was me. Keep the moduli.
That's a tough one. There was a point that I was willing to trade two basses for one...plus some. Fortunately, I found the bass later and only traded one bass for it. But I love it and would've traded both and felt good about it. My loss? In monetary value yes. In personal satisfaction? I totally win. It all depends how much you want the JD versus how much you'll miss the Mod's.
Being an extreme JD fanboy and not so much a fan of moduli (I'm a Zon fanboy too), it's a trade i would think about for 2 seconds, then jump in.
Fair trade typically applies to underdeveloped countries workers getting a better wage adn good working conditions. It also needs some certification.

I would check on the resale value of the Drozd before moving forward. Personally speaking the only way you would get those two Modulus basses away from me is if you "pried them from my cold dead hands". No knock on the Drozd, that is a fantastic bass, I just fancy your two Modulus basses.

It doesn't sound like you want to do it. Sure, the JD is a nice bass, but if he's asking $5k, he's not going to sell it anytime soon 
Save up your money, and if you still want it, maybe you can just buy it outright without giving up your matching pair.

The "Fair Trade" you're talking about was named after the informal "fair trade" concept that the original poster was talking about. "Typically" = >50% of the time? I guess it depends on the context... In the OT forum, perhaps; on the Basses forum, no.
I own both Modulus and Jerzy Drozd basses...Keep in mind they are VERY different in terms of playability and tone. I would highly suggest playing the JD before you make a decision. It may or may not be to your liking....Chances are, you will like it if you've played one before. Jerzy is a very consistent builder. Take Dan up on his TBYB plan...He's the best!
That's a Drozd Sequel. Nice bass. At LAG? I'd say that it's a totally fair trade...if you're not happy with the Modulus basses.

Granted, the Sequel and Legend are different JD basses, but they're both semi-hollow, and they share quite a few design elements.
I can also say without reservation that Dan at LAG is knowledgeable, patient, friendly, and stands behind his instruments 100%.

another thing, lets say you decide one day that you want to get emg, bartolini or any other pup
if you get the JD i don't think it would be easy to instal different pups
plus if you have 2 moduli is cause you love em
I have 3 basses and they are all different brands and if i get a new one it would be some other brand that i don't have till i find something i really like so i could own 2 or 3 basses of the same brand

NO WAY... KEEP BOTH MODs.
You can make a much better deal by just trading one and or selling both and buying a 6er....
