Fake DR Strings on Amazon ?

How are they different from the usual? Stiffer or more flexible? Smoother or rougher?
Would you be able to post a couple of pics of the strings - one at the headstock and one at the bridge including the ball ends?
I have received several DR 5 string sets where the B string has a different envelope than the rest but I haven't had any issues with any of the strings.

Who was the "seller" on Amazon? Was it a third party or was it Amazon themselves?
Did they happen to come from the Amazon Clearance Warehouse by any chance?
They switched the individual paper sleeves recently, I had them like that from both Amazon and Guitar Center
I have used the DR DDT .115 set for probably close to 8 years by now. They have always been consistent and sounded great except for 1 set I got last year. After installing them I noticed at practice there was something just a little different. We practice pretty loud and I usually get a thunderous tone but something was lacking. They worked but just didn't quite sound the same. I even measured them with a micrometer thinking I somehow got the wrong set but everything was correct as far as the gauges. I did notice the strings had almost a blue tint that
I have never noticed before on other sets. So maybe that set was made with a different metal???
After getting another set everything was back to how it should be. I'm pretty sure I bought the set from Sweetwater.

Packaging is 100% legit from what I can see. Even very minor details.
I’ve ordered dozens upon dozens of both bass and guitar strings from Amazon with never an issue. I’ve always made sure to get them only if Amazon itself is the seller, not a third party vendor. That’s where I thing the snakes hide in the grass if you will trying to pawn off fakes. They’re certainly out there though usually they are somewhat obvious if you know what you’re looking at.

Never any issues here. As others have suggested - and this goes for strings and pretty much anything else - always buy 'ships from and sold by Amazon'. That way, if there is a problem, Amazon has to assume full responsibility. SF/SB also pretty much ensures that what you're getting is legit.
Before the next post in the thread I’d like each of you to pause and reflect on the investment in material, capital and time required to “forge” a niche set of bass guitar strings.
What would it really cost to forge a set of $25 strings that only a smal subset of bass player use, knowing that bass strings already represent a niche market in totally?

Manufacturers can and unfortunately will change materials or procedures at will. When Fender scrapped their Mexican string factory and went to having D’ Addario making them the strings I tried were totally different. I much preferred the Mexican product.
Well it might not be too hard to buy a no-name set of cheap Elbownian strings for a few dollars, re-package them to look like a name-brand string, and sell them.
If you used prime or Amazon Warehouse, they will literally take anything back. As other said Amazon sadly has an issue of those taking advantage of returning things that aren't the original... StringJoy made a giant call out of this happening.
Amazon I do see fake stuff but not much of big brand, Ebay however I have found loads of just too good to be true string prices and sets claiming to be a music store.
Again if you are that upset, return them, even if they are a third party they usually are returnable and see where you are buying them from even if Prime from a warehouse.

True. Maybe if it was something like Apple cables or some sunglasses. But the OP is about DR Lowriders. Not even DR HiBeams.
So back to the question. How many sets of DR Lowriders do you think DR sells in a month? Now how many do you think 1 vendor on Amazon could sell in a month? Even if they did your scenario above, that’s not enough to pay your cell phone bill.
If you’re going to sell forged items online you’re going to choose items that already are fast movers. Definitely not bass strings. Definitely not a lower running set. Look at it from the economics.
