Fake DR Strings on Amazon ?

True. Maybe if it was something like Apple cables or some sunglasses. But the OP is about DR Lowriders. Not even DR HiBeams.
So back to the question. How many sets of DR Lowriders do you think DR sells in a month? Now how many do you think 1 vendor on Amazon could sell in a month? Even if they did your scenario above, that’s not enough to pay your cell phone bill.
If you’re going to sell forged items online you’re going to choose items that already are fast movers. Definitely not bass strings. Definitely not a lower running set. Look at it from the economics.

I'm sorry to say that counterfeit strings is a real and huge pain in the arse for many brands of strings. Please understand that the counterfeiter doesn't know the sales history of each SKU/model of string. They simply see a brand/package/model listed on Amazon. From there they just print up packages and stick whatever string they're winding into them. String manufacturers (and others) go to great effort and expense to protect their IP

Side note: When manufacturers would copy our guitars and infringe upon our IP, in some conversations with them I'd laugh and say "hey, at least be smart enough to copy a model that sells".

I had a similar experience with a set of (new) DR Hi-Beams from Amazon. Steel looked a little darker & they seem 'deader' than any I've played in 25 yrs. Mine were sold through 'the Guitar Man Store.'

I got a pack of Fat Beams from Amazon that just didn’t seem right. They felt and played more like a hex core string, like Lo Riders. I contacted DR about it, and they sent me a new pack of Fat Beams directly.
