Falling in love with my Jazz again

So I purchased a Jazz in '08 (my first "real" bass) and used it almost exclusively for practice, rehearsals, and gigs. Then last summer I had a chance to play a Precision and thought it was amazing. Ended up getting my own P back in January of this year and have used it exclusively since then. I thought I'd found my new go-to bass.

Then for rehearsal last night I decided on a whim to take my Jazz. Wow! It was so much fun to play! I'm starting to mix using fingers and a pick, depending on the song, and found picking the J (with flats) really produced a great tone. Felt like a whole new experience all over again.

Thinking I may have to bench my P for a little while and go back to my first love. Sorry, baby.

Something similar happened to me just yesterday. I bought a used Am. Std. Jazz last year for a ridiculous price. I was so happy that it was my first MIA Jazz (I have a MIM deluxe and a VM too) and played it almost all the time. Then for some reason I returned to my Deluxe (my first Fender and my go-to bass) and kept the MIA in its case for a while. Yesterday I took it out of its case and didn't like the sound so I noticed that the XL rounds it had on felt/sounded rusty and old, so I swaped them for a set of almost-new Chromes I had around. Immediately fell in love with it again! I think I'll be playing it for some time again.
