Famous Jazz Bass Recordings?

I was trying to think of records where a j-bass was used, and stands out in the mix.

I know recent Rush records have Ged's Jazz high up, but can anyone else think of stuff where a j is up in the mix?

I love Erase Errata, and their tracks are totally j-filled.

Otherwise, a whole of artists I love seem to use Precision bassists.

Also, how about jazz bassists/records that actually use a jazz? I've already thought of Marcus Miller!:bassist:

I think almost all of the Led Zeppelin stuff was recorded on a J, at least the early stuff, although JPJ used an Alembic later on on tour, I think he kept the J as his "studio bass"

Also Joe Osborne's stuff, the bass on Simon and Garfunkel's "Only Living Boy in New York" really stands out

John Paul Jones was using his Jazz bass at Earls Court in 1975, so I guess anything before that from Zeppelin is a good start.

Also the bass solo in My Generation is a Fender jazz, and that is sort of the start of the bass guitar really!

Noel Redding of the Jimi Hendrix Experience used one live, though he isn't on so many of the studio recordings after Axis Bold as Love as he generally didn't get on with Hendrix's work ethic and didn't show up to sessions or turned up and found nobody else...

Greg Lake's work in early King Crimson and early ELP is also good. His early live sound was pure Jazz into Hiwatt amps (later some really complex hifi amp setup).

When I saw the title of this post, the first thing that jumped into my head was the bass from Led Zeppelin's "What Is and What Should Never Be" off of Led Zep II.

Forgot about My Generation being a Jazz Bass. Another good example. Fender Jazz with tapewounds I believe it was. Didn't know about Macca using a Jazz on the White Album, though. Interesting.

Not just Paul but George too, the band received left and right-handed Jazzes from Fender.
