Famous Monotonous Bass Lines

It friggin hurts my hands playing it. I have to break it up otherwise my hand will fall off. Such a sick line.

Also, "With or Without You." The song just floats on that bassline. Perfect example of simplicity and how to be musical for beginning players.

I had a drummer friend (deceased now) who had met Billy Cobham and bought one of his old custom Mapex drum kits. They even had a little engraved silver badge on top of the bass drums "Custom made for Billy Cobham" That guy wanted to record that song and asked me to play on it.

That session hurt like hell. I had cramps in my left hand for days because we had to do repeated takes. Because although the drummer was a very nice and generous guy with apparently more money than he could spend, he was no Billy Cobham himself.

But yeah, I know exactly what you are talking about with Stratus.

I like With or Without You too. Adam Clayton gets a lot of hate around here, but he is a perfect example of a player who plays for the song.

And I can't believe anybody hasn't said:

ROCKY MOUNTAIN WAY by Joe Walsh.
Dut, da-dut, da-dut, da-dut, da-dut.
I must say Joes slide guitar and chick'n pick'n really sounds like the bray of a donkey in some parts.
