When I saw copper mentioned, my first thought was about what the cost would be.

Is it possible, and would it be cheaper to build a battery storage bank and power your gear with that?
Would that provide adequate isolation from noise sources?
 
Screen rooms I've seen used copper mesh on a wooden frame. Two important points: It only needs to be as good as it needs to be, and some applications need more isolation than others. Second, a smaller box that encloses the most sensitive equipment might be preferable. The people who I've seen doing this for real are not just screening their stuff and hoping for the best, but are actually measuring the results.

Yes, it may be a ridiculous topic, there is a small room in the house that is not used, I am thinking of copper coating between the soundproofing material as insulation and grounding it, thus I think of shielding most of the EMI waves

Is this possible? Will it work? Is it ridiculous, I could not find any information about this topic.

Shielding a room from everything is quite hard because of wavelenght. You'll need multiple layers of insulations.
I worked in faraday chambers and the amount of insulation for a proper shielding is not suitable for common house/use.

Having clean wiring and no ground loop is more important i think.

See that most of your electronic equipement is already shielded by design, the case, the wiring, the power supply is already designed for that.

I approach the laptop, I approach the wall socket, I approach the refrigerator,: the noise increases and vice versa, okay I accept that my laptop is old, but the refrigerator is brand new. So they don't have that good protection

Actually the issue is that the guitar is not completely protected.

I had a hard time finding the quiet spot in my room.

It would be a fairly expensive system, I don't know what the outcome would be.
 
The building I worked in for 22 years was totally wrapped in grounded aluminum foil under the brick. It had a number of rooms that were 2 layers of sheet rock with grounded aluminum foil and steel chicken wire sandwiched in between. In the whole building there was very little cell or radio signal. In the extra shielded rooms there was none at all.
I cheated and bought a cell booster antenna/amplifier and ran it from the roof to my office. That got me cell service and a couple radio stations.

I live in a reinforced concrete building, maybe it does some Faraday shielding :)
 
Please bear in mind that you CANNOT shield "most of the RF waves". Even the SMALLEST gap is enough, and sometimes will make a kind of resonant antenna to make your problems worse. Shielding must be 100%. Doors must have double copper spring seals, and the POWER to the room must go through an RF isolation box on the shield. We have been developing wireless products for many years, and are well aware of the issues. In cities, or even suburbs, there can be an amazing amount of wireless energy about. The worst is AM radio and station can have 50 KW of power. If you really wanted to do this, you buy a commercial shield room and assemble it inside your location. Unless you live in a really bad place RF-wise, it is likely not worth it. ;)

The reason that concrete, etc works to block cellular is that the phone frequencies are so high and also very low power, that they are directional and can be absorbed by dense materials like concrete. Broadcast, radio communications, etc. are much lower and harder to block physically (like low frequency audio).

There is a mosque 30 meters away from my house and there is a base station for mobile phones on the mosque tower.

I thought it was because of the steel bars in the concrete.

Once you have constructed your Faraday Cage, what will you do to shield against any frequencies below the low frequency limit of the (measured) effective low limit of the enclosure?

I suggest that you consider adding some Mu-metal to ensure that you block frequencies below 100 kHz or so. :whistle: :roflmao:

I'm actually thinking of blocking gamma waves too 😁

I just need to block the levels that the guitar can detect

but this is useless because there are bigger problems like home computer, adapters, plugs, lamps and so on and it is very difficult to prevent them

I need a "tempest" with NATO standart shielded computer 😆 first
