Fastening Circular Speaker Grills?

Hello all,

I'm in the final stages of finishing up a speaker cabinet (for those interested it's a fEARful 12/6) and I'm having a little bit of trouble attaching the grills to each speaker. I thought there would be a little extra space around the edge of the grill and was planning on using washers and screws but the grill doesn't extend at all past the speaker edge so I can't do this.

How would you recommend attaching these grills?

Thank you!

An image of the cabinet with the cover over the speaker would help visualize the problem.

Perhaps you can use L standoffs positioned to where there is space for the foot to go.

An alternative is to use a plate rather than a round grille cover. Here is one source that does custom grilles: Reliable Hardware Company - Search It is less expensive to buy a sheet from a metal supplier or a place such as McMaster-Carr but then you have to be set up for metalwork.
