Hi all, there was a recent thread about "dead spots" on or around the C position on the G string, in "almost all" basses (and especially the ones with maple necks and fingerboards). Several people suggested putting a weight on the end of the headstock, and that this would move the dead spot higher up on the neck.

Well, I just tried this, and it actually does work. People talked about the Fat Finger, it's a little 3.8 oz weight by Groove Tubes that screws on to the headstock. I had to use a little more weight to get the right behavior, it turns out a 4-pack of AA batteries is just about right. Guessing about 6-8 ounces?
