Fatal mistakes

Hi Justin, I hope you're well.

As a professional musician who has gigged and recorded with top bands aplenty, do you ever make mistakes? Or are you performing at a level now where you never make them? And how is it on the pro session scene? Is it a case of 'one mistake, and you're out?'

Firstly, there's no such thing as a fatal mistake, unless you work for someone that is an insane control freak that you have no business working with in the first place.

As far as me, I make mistakes all the time. Every day. On stage, in the studio, everywhere.

That should be the least of your worries. No one cares, particularly if you CORRECT your mistakes, and have other strong attributes to offset any "negative attention" that you may draw.

Often times, I've seen that people who focus upon or overly obsess about mistakes often run into an issue: when they end up making a mistake, it does them in, and they can't roll with it and segue smoothly out of such a moment. That's almost worse than making the mistake in the first place.
