Faux Headstock

Ok, ill start by saying this may seem like an odd concept but ill throw it out there anyway. Has anyone ever seen or made a headless bass that still had a headstock? As in a shaoed headstock withoutand holes and what not for tuners. I know theres no real point to it besides trying to retain a certain look. You also wouldnt get the possible weight savings but thats beside the point in this case.

So, anyone?

What you're describing is exactly how Ritter does his "headless" headstocks...

Miziomix has a nice thread going for a jazz shaped build with a semi headless setup like you are talking about. I think it is called the Uber J mark 2. I find it to be an attractive alternative to the completely headless basses we are used to seeing.

Yeah, miziomix was one of the people that brought it to my mind. His idea wasnt what i was thinking about in my head but it a similar design.

I found one other, seems it isnt that common i guess.

+1 on Miziomix's Uber-J concept. Gorgeous looking. Also, check out the Kubicki X-Factor, it's a pretty neat take on the idea. That bass was the unobtainable object of my lust in the 90's... well, not the only one

I want to love Ritter's basses, I really do. I can't stop looking a them. But they remind me of the kitchens in Dwell Magazine advertisements: Gorgeous, spotless, oozing with sexy design... but not really practical to use as intended.

The main thing that makes the David King Headed/Headless unique is that the faux headstock is REMOVABLE. The headpiece/string anchor is specially made by David so the headstock pops right on or off. Here's a pic on my King D4 with the faux headstock which fits on all the other 4's in the pic. Having it removable also means you can use a guitar case or gigbag and save space.
