Double Bass Faux Laborie Endpin

Hello,
Does anyone remember the endpin that Lemur used to sell that was similar to a Laborie, had an angled shaft that was joined to a straight end, so there was no drilling of the end block required to use it.

Upton has an option (as an upgrade when you are purchasing a new bass) Where they build a block on the outside of the instrument, so the hole is drilled into that block instead of the block on the bass.

It looks like this is only an option for their new basses, but it looks like a fairly simple concept that a qualified luthier could make to fit your instrument, and is far less invasive.
