Favorite Bass Headstocks

I personally love the headstock on my Ibanez BTB, its very masculine like the rest of the bass, the whole bass is bold its strong curves.
I'm very picky about headstocks, and usually prefer tilt-back designs with a volute. These are my favs (Tobias, Jerzy Drozd, and F), along with Ken Lawrence's great design. I dislike Fender headstocks - I think they look like huge, clumsy Stratocasters - and I won't buy anything that uses stringtrees, which I consider an unacceptable design shortcut (YMMV).

- Full disclosure, I'm a certified Fender technician working in a music store that carries Fender, Yamaha, and Ibanez products among others.
There's a company called KRK Guitars that has a headstock shaped like a dagger, complete with dripping blood. Considering it is actually sharp enough to stick you in the eye, I think it's pretty cool.
That, and the sort-of-headless headstock on a Kubicki are pretty cool.

My personal favorite headstock styles:
- MusicMan Stingray
- Rickenbacker 4001 / 4003
- Schecter Avenger / AB - No longer found on their basses. It looks like a cross between a Fender and a Jackson headstock. Currently only exists on a few Schecter guitars (like Synster Gates' signature models, and Avenger guitars). Very radical, but especially awesome when reversed!

I kinda dug the Yamaha Motion headstock, 2+2, but angled in an odd way. (sorry, no pix, but there's one for sale on eBay, not mine, btw).

I prefer 3+3 headstocks, with the Soundgear being just a little on the narrow end of the spectrum, and the Carvin Icon headstock being just about ideal. Foderas are good too, although perhaps a bit large for my taste.
