Favorite Bass player.

I could probably narrow it down to 10 if you put a gun to my head. Those who forced me to play bass:

McCartney
Geddy Lee
Phil Lesh (he really doesn't get enough credit)
Chris Squire

John Wetton's work in Crimson '72-'74 is vastly underrated. Greg Lake's bass playing in Crimson ('69) and early ELP is fantastic.

Wooten and Claypool have taken things beyond the horizon.

But there will only ever be one CHARLES MINGUS.

Steve Harris!!!!

John Entwistle
Charles Mingus
James Jamerson
Whatshisface from the Atlanta Rhythm Section. Paul Goddard or something like that.
Nathan East
Victor Wooten (when I saw him with the Flecktones a few weeks back...That man is a rhythm guitarist, a lead guitarist, and a bassist all packed into one instrument. Amazing.

Cris Kirkwood of the Meat Puppets one of the better bassists that's not too flashy but helps keeps the beat going with a bad ass chunky tone.

On a side note his brother Curt Kirkwood is a severely underrated guitarist, on of the best all time IMHO.

+100

Love these guys! Saw them @ the orig 9:30 Club in DC, back in the day.

IIRC Billy Gibbons cited Curt as being the one of the best unknown guitar players - this was years before their brief period in the spotlight after another Kurt (Cobain) turned everyone on to them.
