Favorite delay pedal

Boss RV-3 Digital Reverb/Delay: has 11 modes, up to 2000ms digi-delay, can do delay, reverb, delay and reverb, can do 100% WET, the reverbs have a wide tone control and range and overall it's just good.

I also voice in for the DD-7 as it has lots of good modes that work well. (check out the reverse on it!)

May I chime in for some advice. I am using a delay for voices on my mackie Dl1608 borad. I use an aux out and return to a channel. This setup allows me to on and off via the pedal instead of off the ipad or board. I bought a very cheap echo unit to test it out and now wish to upgrade. I want a one peice unit that doesn't need an expression pedal. I need tap tempo and a big bonus would be the ability to hold the ending note. A good example might be the last "hey" on the Romantic's "What I Like about You, You You. Any suggestions?

Wow, that El Capistan looks amazing. Yes, lots of knobs, but actually very easy to use it looks like. I always get to overwhelmed if they start getting too technical. Those controls are all real straight forward. Thanks for all the recommendations. I shall go shopping soon.

I was going to recommend the Strymon El Capistan, until you said "simple"...the El Capistan is a fantastic delay pedal, but I wouldn't call it simple. If you want an awesome sounding delay pedal, that's super simple...check out the Mad Professor Deep Blue.

Both of these options are pricey, but great (awesome badass sounding) in my opinion.

I forgot to add, I myself use the hardwire DL8 but I also have and LOVE my DOD Digital Delay. This pedal is old but it sounds so good. I can do things with it I cant find in other delays. Like when I have the repeats all the way up, I can hit a note and have it delay and I can turn the speed pot on it and get a crazy awesome oscilating sort of type of effect that I havent found on any other delay pedal. Its starting to give me problems though and I need to find someone to repair it for me if they can. I want to do all I can to save it. Just need to find someone to do it.

I collected a bunch this year and each has their own purpose and character. It's also great using them in tandem.

El Cap is great, so many options and the closest to emulating my old Space Echo 201 without worrying about the tape going haywire or having it trashed at a live show. It's heavenly.

Cat Echorec rocks, but I use it more on guitar for Floydish sounds. Haven't spent enough time with it.

DMB Lunar Echo w/expression pedal. Hands down my favorite to play and experiment with. So much fun to be had, great sounds, great take off feature.

Hardwire DL-8 I use for the reverse delay which for the money I think it nails nicely.

Malekko 616: Simple, easy to use, not flashy but has some cool functions. I use it last in the chain to simply repeat another cool sound that a delay above might have made.

Next to buy is the Malekko LoFi 616

What does TalkBass think about the Boss DD-3? Wondering if it would be worth it if I could get it cheap?

edit: And any DD-3 owners...my pickups are active, anyone have problems with the DD-3 clipping? I'm really wary about clipping pedals after my experience with the Dispatch Master.

The DD3 is pretty sweet considering the price tag and all. It is a nice delay. Although if I were to get a boss delay I'd go with the DD7? is it? It has more options and so forth. But they're good delay pedals none the less. Lots a people use em. I see a lot of guitars players with em.

Well, ordered a DD3 from Ebay. I'll need an ac adapter. I still have an extra Tech 21 DC2 power supply. 9V, 100 ma, unregulated.

Would that be ok to use with the DD3 or should I order a Boss made pedal?

I dig the EQD Dispatch Master and the TC Electronic Flashback.

The Dispatch Master is one of the most "inspiring" pedals I've ever used... the delay + reverb combo is simply gorgeous. This one is tops in terms of pure sound.

However, the Flashback replaced it on my board because it cuts through the live mix a bit better (in the 2290/digital mode) and is easier to kick on in a live situation (the Dispatch is tiny and the footswitch is close to the knobs). The multiple delay options, TonePrint editing, and looper function are nice bonuses as well.

The Dispatch is nice enough that I may end up buying one again someday a rehousing it to get it back on the board.
