I was going to recommend the Strymon El Capistan, until you said "simple"...the El Capistan is a fantastic delay pedal, but I wouldn't call it simple. If you want an awesome sounding delay pedal, that's super simple...check out the Mad Professor Deep Blue.
Both of these options are pricey, but great (awesome badass sounding) in my opinion.
What does TalkBass think about the Boss DD-3? Wondering if it would be worth it if I could get it cheap?
edit: And any DD-3 owners...my pickups are active, anyone have problems with the DD-3 clipping? I'm really wary about clipping pedals after my experience with the Dispatch Master.
