Just curious....where do you guys go to find these tunes? I have an ipod full of music ive been swapping with friends for years and i download a lot of music. Just wondering how you guys go about finding new tunes.

That's the 'Stalag 17 Riddim'. I remember a new version almost every day for a while late '70s. Some huge versions here:



It's BB Fsharp A Fsharp AA (first A is high, last two an octave lower, of course)

I like to play it starting from the B (7th fret) on the E string, and you can play the last notes on the open 'A' string if it's easier for you.

Anything King Tubby is good.

I like the "Throw Me Corn" riddim alot. I also like "A Dub You Can Feel" which is from a vocal version also.

Most of my fave dub is from the early DJ days where they dubbed out old Rocksteady riddims.

I like early DJ style alot, The Lone Ranger, Michigan and Smiley, U-Roy, I-roy, Dillinger, etc.

My old band put out a couple dub records by my drummer "Dr. Echo"- he's a great dub engineer. He release a bunch of our Steady Ups tracks as dub albums along with some originals by him.

you can get the "I-Grade Radio" podcast free on I-tunes. it features all the St. Croix bands associated with the Midnite Clan.

Since I'm uncultured, I really happen to enjoy the hell out of Gov't Mule's I'm a ram.

That's actually a cover of a cover.... the original is by Al Green, and it was first reggaefied by Gordie Johnson's band Big Sugar (if you like Mule, you'll like them). Gordie produced a couple Mule albums and is a friend of the band

Never really thought of Big Sugar's version as reggae...but he's a ram caught in a bush.
