Yes those fast pick punk basslines can be really cool and challenging exercises when played finger style.

Somehow, I had completely and utterly never heard any Vulfpeck at all before this.
I started up the bass cover video while getting ready for work this morning (since i figured that would have the bass featured way out in front and I could hear it clearer). At first I was like "wow, those steady 16ths are nice, gonna be murder to keep going a whole song like that..." but that quickly gave way to "OH %@#$ YOU, holy poop no wonder people say this Dart guy is so great!" - that's an awesome bass tune and whoever did the cover is a madman. I have to try, TRY, to learn this tune.
Any discussion of 16th note grooves would be incomplete without inclusion of the great Jerry Jemmott. Clearly an influence on Jaco and Rocco, both of whom you mentioned.

Haha...that's slapping. Have played that first bassline before. Really cool. When I was young I had a trio that played some Steve Morse songs. Met favorite was Cruise Missile. It's a bit similar to this one.
Herbie Hancock-Spank-A-Lee. Some of the most slinky sixteenth-note syncopation.

Somebody posted this in one of the other "good practice tune" threads. Damn! I spent a lot of time playing this one at 85%, 90% and 95% speed (best feature of YouTube!), bringing up the chops.
I was aware of Alphonso Johnson before (Santana where you don't necessarily realize what a master he is, and Weather Report of course) but this is where I fell in love with his playing:
