Mine just arrived today.

Sure, I've had several scrap-foam mutes, but this one is nice enough that I'll definitely buy a few more.

Put it on my Squier CV Jazz and gave it a brief whirl.
I mean, it's basically just a couple pieces of foam and Velcro but I like the way it sounds and looks.
I'd planned on buying the Fump, but after hearing the way they strangle your strings, I wouldn't use one if they sent me a custom 14-karat gold plated one with my name engraved in it for free.

I bought a "fump" which was useless because it mutes the strings so much it turns my basses into comedy instruments. Just makes a dead thump. I tried the Bass Mute Clamp. Purchased the twin pack with a friend of mine and we now have one each and both love them! Its a simple device and could probably be hand made but they are pretty cheap to buy anyway. The main thing is they WORK. Muting can be subtle or strong. The only thing is that because it sits above a below the strings it will interfere with palm muting. Personally this hasn't been an issue.

I use a piece of dish washing sponge (those with the green scouring side... without the scouring bit that is) cut to 20mm x 20mm x 80mm that I slide in under the ashtray on my P-bass below the strings.
What I like about it is, it does not mute the strings much but it does add just that tad extra warmth to the Chrome flats. When I want a more muted tone, I simply move the foam forward toward the pick-up. Add a 0.88 pic to the mix and some interesting sounds start to happen.
Here is a pic of my best foamy forever.

My 9050CL's 105E break in faster than the rest, so, i have try different way to mute the A,D and G string.
After do few test and try with different dense of foam, plus different cutting and placement.
I am happy with my final work, all even tone without loss huge amount of sustain, meanwhile all string still in tune without out pitch.

The ashtrays are installed on my P and J basses for the purpose of using foam mutes over the strings. But on the Dimension I have no other choice but to place it under the strings. I got my foam mute from a box from an order placed from Amazon.com
Bought the Bass Mute Clamp. Simple and effective. I like the way you can slide it forward or back(I have a P bass) and change the amount of muting.
I use a couple different solutions. I actually have a container of all different shapes and sizes of foam and sock mutes I have cut over the years. They work in a pinch.
Most of my basses are not muted and I just use my hand. I usually remove ashtrays. A few basses I keep perma-muted, however, some from above the saddles:
- On an ancient k2b I use the upper part of a synthetic sports sock in the ashtray. Seems to work better than foam on that one. Sounds great, even just practising unplugged. Ashtray resonates the notes nicely.
- On an old hi flyer that is missing the ashtray, I use some pipe insulation foam on top of the saddles, held there by elastic bands. Looks ghetto, sounds great. I love this bass very much, the bridge is very primitive and string spacing is all uneven and janky but for some reason that makes it super fun to play. Single coils keep me from playing it out as much as I used to, though.
I also mute some from below the strings:
- I have a really thin slice of pipe insulation foam (1/2" x 1/4") jammed up against the saddles, between the strings and chrome body of the 3 point bridge on a newer faded Gibson sg bass. Also sounds great, subtler than the others. This one is my daily driver. Took a shitload of work to get it there, though...
- I made a bunch of compound foam mutes of varied thickness and rigidity to jam between strings and the body of a fender t bucket bass that just sounded like ass acoustically, even after it was ported, and with a variety of strings. The port and mutes helped, but I still got rid of that bass. Kept the mutes, though.

I have another idea for your dimension foam mute.
I call it Cude Foam Mute, just like my ugly drawing, the string dint touch the bottom of foam, the foam press form both side. SO you need some more dense foam cut in cube for each string . Wish you happy test and try.
