Favorite Sir Paul tone?

Can anyone point to *definitive* proof that Paul used the mutes on his Rickenbacker?
This is often alleged, and could very well be true, but has he or someone who would know actually said so in an interview?

I don't think there's any satisfying answers about any of Paul's gear... but I read am interview someplace where he claimed not to use his palm to mute, which makes use of the rick's mute seem likely.

Been obsessed with this bass line lately. Is this confirmed that it was a Rickenbacker?

Well, my ears confirm it:laugh: but most things I've read say the Ric. I think for the most part he played three basses, his Hofner early on, the Ric for the majority of stuff along with teh Hofner and the Jazz later on along with the other two, it's hard to track that stuff down so I use my ears although obviously that's not fool proof either but some tracks are unmistakable. I've owned all three at various times and still own Rics and a Jazz.
