I didn't know until recently that it is Jack Bruce playing on Frank Zappa's "Apostrophe" and killin' it!

That rumour is about Hurdy Gurdy Man. Jones almost certainly did, not so for Page. I believe Bonham played drums on it. Also interesting, JPJ arranged "Mellow Yellow".
Remember "Fool's Game" by Michael Bolton? ca 1983? Typical pop/rock at the time, but kind of weird to think about now.
I still get teased for owning a copy of Michael Bolton's "The Hunger".......but look who the bass players are on that disk! Will Lee, Randy Jackson, Doug Wimbish... The songs are kind of dated but there are some good lines on there. Lots of other artists from that era like Richard Marx, Eddie Money, Phil Collins, Don Henley, etc had players like Randy Jackson, Nathan East, Pino Palladino etc..playing bass.
Flea playing on Alannis Morrisette's "You oughta Know" was surprising but very cool. Or better yet, Flea on "Bust A Move" by Young MC.

I just had to learn '50 Ways to Leave Your Lover' and knew I couldn't fake my way through the cool counterpoint line under the verse. So I p/u a copy and......Tony Levin, aaawww! Pretty little bass part, never would have guessed it was Tony the Tiger.
JPJ was an arranger before ZEP. Check the organ tone on Donovan's 'Season of the Witch'- It's exactly the one on 'Your Time is Gonna Come' Mr. Jones? I think so.
Speaking of Randy Jackson - he, Jimmy Johnson, Vinnie Colaiuta, and many other great session players are all over the OUTSTANDING Billy Idol disc "Charmed Life."
