I've always thought P-Nuts line in Amber was the epitome of "less is more". It is a pretty simple line, but it grooves hard.

P-Nut was/is a HUGE influence on my playing (just look at my screen name )

thats a perfect example of NOT overplaying...or "playin for the song".. as those of us "in the know" know dang well p-nut has the ability to play whatever he wanted during that song, but played more "what the song needed". I cant stress enuff how awesome that bloke is.

I'll agree to that! One of the first lines I learned.

Have yet to get into an awesome range of rock but I've recently gained a fancy for Longview (Green Day) and Soundcheck (Gorillaz).

Gotta agree with the previously mentioned Hey Joe, one of the first songs I really noticed the bass.

I'll give a list of the first songs I played when I picked up the bass as about a 10 year old (21 now)

Riders on the storm was probably the hardest to learn cause it's a strange note progression, but these songs really taught me the importance of timing, and I suggest to anyone that is starting to pick up the bass

Easy bass line but the vocal rhythm is very different. Singing while playing this is the real challenge.
