Dang it, I though I was in Basses. Sorry!
First Bass Day & New Bass Day.

Terrible pictures. Sorry about that, I'll see about replacing them with better ones tomorrow, if anyone cares - not like you haven't seen a Yamaha RBX270 before.

Got a nice big box, not too beat up by the post office.

Looks to be in decent shape, other than a terrible e-string (mentioned in sale description, not a surprise.) There are a few dings and one through the paint (also mentioned/pictured.)

After doing a basic operational test with the strings that came on it, took those off.

Filthy. Oh. Mah. Gawd! Filthy. So cleaned it up. Cleaned up pretty well, not that this is stunningly obvious from the picture.

Born on Feb 6th, 2001 in the Taiwan Yamaha Factory (kaohsiung Yamaha Ltd.)

Sparkly metallic purple. I'll live.

Put on black tapewounds. Tapewounds are so nice, even based on all of half an hour or so of futzing with the roundwounds that came on it. I suppose I should try and figure out who does red silks to see what the upper 3 roundwounds I took off might be - probably GHS boomers? The rusty E string that was just core hanging over the bridge might become a cat toy.

I'm loving the look of the black strings, though I gather that's not a universal appeal (well, actually I've gathered that nothing is universally appealing around here...)

Tuned up to BEAD in part just to make sure I didn't shoot past and snap anything, amusing but with this set of strings (not surprisingly) way too floppy, so I brought it up to EADG and have retuned a few times as they settle in. Will have to adjust the intonation - might get away leaving the neck alone.

Sounds spiffy unplugged. Sounds good plugged in, too, though I expected more difference than I hear between the P & the J.

About $125 once I put the new strings on it. Now to learn to play it...
