Double Bass Fdeck for upright _and_ electric bass?

Anyone using an Fdeck for electric bass? I don't own any direct box - don't gig much and when I do, the direct out on my AI always does the job.

I had a student show up with a very hot output from a Peavey electric bass, and I'm wondering if the Fdeck - II, with its volume control, is the simple, elegant solution for me.

I think that my preamp would actually make matters worse in this situation. The volume control is on the output of the preamp circuit, not on the input. So, the electric bass signal would enter my preamp circuit at full strength, and then be further boosted by ~ 2 dB, before reaching the volume control. And I'm pretty sure that an electric bass with a hot output is capable of distorting my preamp.

I think the simplest and cheapest solution, just for your teaching studio, is to have your student turn down the volume control on the bass.

Thank you, folks. I will order an Fdeck, anyway - I was hoping this was my excuse, but I want to try it with my cheapie piezo and see if it helps, anyway.

It will. The same caveat about "hot" signals applies, but this will either be a non-issue, or surmountable with appropriate staging of the pre and post gain knobs on your amp.
