Is it redundant to use both together: pickup to Fdeck to Fishman (using it as a DI for gigs with PA) to Amp?
I have an Underwood (one element hanging) and Markbass CMD121P (with the horn disconnected). For big gigs I use the Markbass head alone with an Aguilar 410 4Ohm.
I like the Fdeck HPF Series II more than the Fishman ProEQ. The sound is cleaner and I can raise the volume a lot without feedback. But Fishman has intersesting things too: I can use it as a DI and the Compression knob is not bad at all.
I play a mixture of americana, country, folk, pop and I pizz and slap 80/20. I can get a nice pizz sound with the FDeck's but then the slap sounds too much bright/harsh for my taste (and I use gut strings -Eudoxa E+A and Gamut D+G- without an aggressive play). And when I eq my gear for a good woody and slightly slap sound the pizz turns too opaque and indistinct.
That's why I'm thinking about using the Fishman's compression after Fdeck's.
Any advice will be welcome!
