fEARful/berg, neo/non?

I was looking to save up my pennies for some bergantinos but I'm very curious about the fEARfuls now. Save money if I build it myself, have a lot of power, and light weight what could be better?

I a/b'd the bergantino AE and HT 112s and I much preferred the sound that came out of the HT which leads me to my questions...

Has anyone a/b'd fEARfuls to bergs? (HT or AE)

Even though fEARfuls are only compatible with a small list of speakers has anyone gone against the grain and used another brand or even a non neo in the design? (making it something that's not fEARful) What were your results? Any regrets?

The 3015LF sounds nothing like a "typical" neo, and it's crossed over so low that the midrange where lots of neo speakers have "honk" (rising midrange response) is coming out of an extremely flat dedicated midrange.

Don't expect it to sound like any neo cabinet you've ever heard...or any non-neo cabinet you've ever heard.

Ever run a gig on just a DI to the board? That's what you can expect a fEarful to sound like, assuming you've got a good sound guy ;)

Yes, they sound like apples, strawberry rhubarb, and pumpkin. I like pie, you?

I have built similar cabs with several different drivers, some neo and some not. My results were like pumpkin-chai and pumpkin-rum. Did I mention that I like pie?

I also briefly tried a non-spec'ed non-neo mid driver in my fEARful 12/6, which was a bit of a downgrade IMO. I prefer to design around each driver as its own case though. If you want to experiment I recommend just starting with a blank sheet, in all honesty.

Ooooooh. Piiiiiiie.

My Berg HT115 was sort of like cherry pie.
