Fedex destroyed my DB 750

Here's what I don't get........... I just had something delivered via FedEx the other day, (always dug FecEx, never a problem with them on numerous deliveries).

HOWEVER, in looking at the tracking info for this delivery, it mentioned "DHL" in the transport path for the first time I've ever seen. Now, I have seen in another TB thread that DHL has been mentioned as a nightmare.

What I'm thinking is that FedEx is subcontracting work to DHL If DHL is such an inferior company, as mentioned in the TB thread to which I am referring, that's pure jive, IMO!!!

You'd be amazed how much UPS and Fed Ex actually work together. Every once in awhile, at UPS (pronounced oops), we'll get a Fed Ex package on a truck. We sat them in a pile, beat them, repeatedly with a baseball bat, then escort the Fed Ex guy in surrounded by security guards and let him take whats left of the packages.

Be glad it is FedEx- from my experience, tehy are much easier to deal with, faster transport, and smash way less packages. I Will only acces UPS if it is my only option.
DHL is TERRIBLE-the one package I got from tehm took forever to arrive, and the box was smashed up when I got it. Lucky for me it was a hockey helmet made from Kevlar- nigh indestructable.

At least it wasn't UPS....

They happily smash things, and they NEARLY ALWAYS claim it wasn't packed well wnough, and deny the claim.....at which time you can go fish, as you are getting nothing.
Amen to that brother. Lyle Caldwell and myself are going through this nightmare right now. I sold him a QSC PLX1602 power amp. I placed it in the double-boxed package from a Vox AD30VT amp I had recently received, packed it all around with wads (and wads) of crumpled up butcher paper. Shipped it insured for $500 via the UPS store at Staples. When Lyle received it, it had obviously been through "hell"... He emailed me pictures which showed that the right side front and back rack ears were completely bent and the cast aluminum front handle had been snapped in two. I filed a claim, UPS went to his house and inspected the package and amp. I just received a fax from them stating that they will not pay the claim because they feel the package was insufficiently packed. Lyle is as stupified by this as I am. I would have had to pack it in a shock-proof rack case for it to have survived the way they kicked this thing around.

I worked at UPS for a summer loading packages into trucks. I was astounded at how many boxes were mangled by the time we got them, and how many coworkers would do the mangling. Part of the problem where I worked was due to the speed you have to work at to 'meet quota'. There was little time for care with packages. Hearing about that 1602 doesn't surprise me at all, sadly.

That said, I've never seen issues with UPS claims. I hope yours turns out to be tolerable as well, Lyle and fgenus.

In my experience, a road case is probably the worst way to ship gear. Take it from me, when those guys see a heavy duty case, they're more likely to throw it around all over the place. My amp was an Eden VT .40 inside a Clydesdale case, both front and back covers were secured with heavy latches and given a generous dose of packing tape for extre piece of mind.

All that didn't make any difference, it still came back damaged.
