Fedex ground SUCKS!

UPS driver work for UPS, many FEDEX drivers own their route from what I understand. So if the guy that owns your route sucks, your kinda up the creek with FEDEX. Theirs not a lot of accountability to the drivers with FEDEX. But I have ordered stuff from a company that refused to ship UPS becase they said that the UPS distribution centers were a lot rougher on things than FEDEX.

The main advantage for me in the eternal FedEx vs UPS juggernaut is that FedEx makes you wait until all three unsuccessful delivery attempts have been made before you can put a hold on it and pick it up in person, whereas, at least around here on the north shore of Chicago, if I miss even the first UPS delivery attempt I can call and they put it on hold for me right away and I can pick it up that night. Never had a problem that way at all and have used the "will call" number many times.

I have gotten to know my UPS man. I have his cell phone number and I call him on the day of a particularly expensive delivery. Once I met him to get my new instrument over at the hospital, another time over at the music store. Highly groovy.

I have an expensive axe coming FedEx and I am super paranoid right now! Seven days shipping from LA to Chicago really seems kind of slow to me.

My Ol' Lady worked for UPS here, she knows all of the people working there and we are friends with our UPS driver so we get treated pretty good by them.

However, I don't think we have ever had the the same FedEx driver twice.

Unless you've had mail delivered to an APO or FPO, you have nothing to complain about. Its always people complaining about either UPS or FedEX. Mishaps are going to happen, so stop crying to your diary and fix the problem.

I recently went through this with a trade here on TB. The guy I'm trading with shipped via UPS, was charged nearly twice as much as I was, and it'll get to me 3 days later than mine will get to him! I shipped via FedEx, btw.

Also, I've had only one "bad" experience with FedEx... they had my shipment showing delivered on the tracking, yet I had nothing! As it went, the guy came about a half hour later, but only dropped one package when I was expecting 2. I tried to catch him, but chalked it up as a loss for that day. About 15 minutes later, he came back and dropped the second package and was apologetic.

UPS seems to charge more, and they don't deliver Saturdays, which has cause me to get impatient plenty of times, having to wait all weekend for something to be delivered. USPS, at least the one in my town, is horrible. There's always a long line, usually one person, maybe 2 working the registers. If there's a huge line, there'll be employees doing stuff behind the counter, but not helping customers. They (now) tend to be higher or about the same as the others, but for the same cost, they claim it'll take a week compared to 3-4 days with the others. That, and their tracking is atrocious (pretty much non-existant). I hate going there, as I know I'll get ripped off every time. I'll drive a little further and use FedEx anyday.

Fedex doesn't deliver Sundays and its the holiday weekend. They also might not deliver on Mondays too, I don't really remember but I think thats how it is. You've got a 3 day slump in shipping for Fedex.

I usually ship stuff via Fedex. There is a distribution center thats a ten minute drive from my house. Nice people there and its dirt cheap. I shipped a bass in a gig bag (in a box of course) and it came out to like $16 bucks to ship it. For a comparison, I went to USPS this morning and it cost me $11 to mail a Boss pedal with tracking.

I didn't want to go to USPS either, things tend to get lost there. A lot.

ups just broke my shock mount road case and then sent it to another province for inspection.....since the shipper paid the freight they will only talk to him,and the info on the tracking web is often inaccurate,misleading or just plain false.....ups bites and i'd rather send stuff via the united airlines baggage handlers network

I ship FedEx ground by preference. Never had a problem of any kind with them, price is right, they're top-notch as far as I'm concerned.

I've only shipped something once using DHL and it was a good experience..BUT as far as deliveries go, the area I live in is considered "safe", a "drop off area", so UPS, DHL and Fed Ex will leave a delivery out on the porch or on the steps. I demanded from anyone I purchased from to alert the parcel company(s) they use to require a signature upon delivery and since then if I'm not home they will not leave anything unattended.

I used to work for FedEx Ground. Packages normally sit in the vans all weekend and go out Monday morning. Saturday shipping really is up to the driver, as they're independent contractors who own their routes. I still would pick them over UPS any day of the week.. they're cheaper, and the packages arrive at a decent time. UPS... they usually don't even feel like knocking on the door. They just write the infonotice and leave. Plus the delivery times are all screwy.
