I own a Behringer Feedback Destroyer and have tried it on my bass.
I thought it degraded the tone too much, although it did kill the feedback. The degradation sounded like comb filtering which is in fact how those devices work.
Why it seems so noticeable with my bass but sounds fine when used to control feedback in PA monitors I have no idea.
