Feedback on BergCN 212 for old guys

Hi Guys - Fairly new to TB. I'm 62 interested in Berg CN 212 speaker cab. Looking at weight and bulkiness as we have no local dealers (in our area) here in Australia to A/B them. Doing gigs twice weekly loading and unloading, looking for a lighter weight than my 4/10 Eden - 320 Combo. Considering an Aguilar TH500 to drive them or if a CN112 would be large enough for Rock'n'Roll/Modern Country Dance Band (reasonable size clubs and volume) 100 - 300 people depending on venue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A 112 would not do it for you unless you always have front of house support and low stage volume. Two CN112's or the CN212 would probably give you about 80%+ of the output of the 410XLT (had one of those back in the day... very loud 410), with a 30% size reduction and a 60%+ weight reduction. The frequency response will be more even also, but will still have some of that punch and presence that the XLT is famous for.

The TH500 is my head of choice for pop/rock music with my more traditional P and J inspired instruments, and through the CN212 it is full, loud, punchy and articulate, and not at all 'modern sizzly'.

Get a small cart, and you will be a happy, happy man!

The CN212 is a very loud cab, it would be more than enough for what you describe. I've used mine at outdoor gigs without PA support and was very present in the mix while still filling out the low end.

As for its size and weight I think it's perfect. I prefer a single cab solution these days and the CN212 does that in spades. It is lighter than a lot of smaller cabs on the market and its size makes the schlep very easy. It can be a one-hander to certain people.

I one hand mine with my amp in the other and my bass around my shoulder

Ken has all but convinced me to get the TH500 as well. Maybe he will post a link to his youtube vid. I cannot seem to find it.

I no longer have that Youtube channel up. Nice combination though with the TH500. Lots of slam down low, and lots of 'sit in the mix' midrange, and a nice, relaxed, useable top end to my ear. Very impressive little head. The GK MB Fusion stuff sounds cool if you want more zing and sizzle up top, and the TecAmp kind of sits between those two tonally. Nice stuff available these days!

I think the CN212 would fit your needs very, very well. :cool:

Thanks guys for the responses to my question about the CN212 and TH 500. Have been following Talk Bass for months now and appreciate the feedback. We don't have PA support, but I think with the feedback I have received this combination should be just fine. I have 2012 J Bass and a P Bass should match up OK. By the way Tom I subscribed to Bass Gear mag a couple of months ago have not received anything at this stage.
