Feeling ballsy. Might share a (sad) song.

I surely wasn't planning to share or else I would have put more effort into it - and it's out of my comfort zone to do - but I'm quite fond/proud of the songwriting here so I thought I'd share.

One pass via iphone video, cleaned up with garageband compression and reverb. Had an email notification on my computer (which was acting as my video stand) mid-song  but whatever.

I also tend to write lyrics to match the mood of the music - I find melodies/music I like first and then match the lyrics to that. I know some people write what's in their heart - - I write what's in the music. So for this one, it came out a little dark.

Thanks for listening!

Lyrics:
Do you believe in kingdom come?
Where mercy calls the weak and worn
Or do you believe what's done is done?
And all we are is all or none

I tried I tried I tried I tried
I tried to carry on
I tried I tried I tried
'til kingdom come

Will you please carry on?
And know I've been called home alone
Will you please, can you please just carry on?
I'm one and done
I've sung my song
My soul has left and gone

And what I had to give I gave
All of me
Everyday
There's nothing left for me to fake
Down, down
Beneath the grave

Thanks for the feedback! Vulnerable post for me and I appreciate hearing how you’re all hearing the song.

I’ll definitely spend some time in the Cohen catalog, absolutely hear what ya’ll are saying. Also appreciate the minimalistic yet melodic instrumentation in the few Cohen songs I just heard so I DEFINITELY need to dig in there!

Also appreciate the timbre comment. I sing like that because it’s where I sing most confidently. Otherwise I get in my head too much with how nasally and bad it sounds.
