Yeah, if you'd seen that thread where Martin was needlessly bashing some band he used to be in you'd already know that grace and tact are not his strong points.

Back on OP's topic: The fact that they played with you once and want to again should ease the feeling of inadequacy. Become Alpha and play it like you own it!

Thanks, guys! Putting a time stamp on this, I remember walking into CBGB's record shop and Uplift Mofo Party Plan had just come out.

The postscript is, I somehow missed the Pixies' breakout. It wasn't until 2 years later, when I picked up a copy of the newly released Doolittle (with critics' quotes stickied all over it) that I had my "Oh, those guys!" moment.
