Fender '51 pbass - pickup issues?

I recently got a 51 CS pbass that has a "stacked" duncan pickup. This is my first CS bass and first ever with a single coil "early"precision style (i have vintage pbasses with spli coil pickup so every one is post 59).

The question is - it does not have good balance between the strings. It is very very dynamic and full sounding but I hear that E string is louder than everything else. Tried changing pickup heights, bridge saddles, strings etc. It seems to be "that way". Cant set it to sound balanced. So, do all 51-style basses have this issue? Being not well balanced in terms of each strings' volume?

My '51 does not have this issue, but then again mine is a Custom Shop instrument. It does have either the same one, or same type of pickup though (stacked humcancelling). You are not the first person to mention this regarding '51 Ps. It seems to be fairly common and I think you will get a better answer than mine in short order.
