Fender 60th Anniversary Precision Bass

Thanks jeffk,
I played one at the store yesterday(again) i'm so sad i can't afford it, it's the best p-bass i ever played period.

I'm surprised about the neck specs. I'm usually a 7.25", vibrage frets fan. The 60th anniversary P neck is amazingly confortable.

The other surprising part is that there are 2 60th at my shop and one feels amazingly but the second one is really not at the same level as the first one.

well I'm back in the club .... the Fender 60th Anniversary Precision Bass Owners Club !

thanks to Tony, (Ynot12). Its a beautiful bass, great neck, build, sound, everything.

I was wondering whether or not I should have pulled the trigger on the deal seeing as
I have a 51, 57, 62 ( all RI's ), and a 78 but this one tops them all.

great to be back.

I was just talking to my wife this morning about this thread, how several of you that sold your 60th's went out and got another one. Really shows that these basses are something special.

I mentioned to her (totally jokingly) that I was considering offloading mine to fund a SB4000, and she laughed. Didn't believe for a second that I'll ever sell mine.

I gotta say, it's true. My 60th is really starting to show the wear, and is truly MY bass, as the mojo all came from me playing it so much for the last year and a half. It's got the tell-tale thumb wear near the pickup, and my right arm is starting to chip and wear away the paint on the upper edge. The lower edge of the bass has spots where it has leeched the color from whatever pants I was wearing when I played it sitting down. The edges are chipped slightly, and the lacquer has checked and yellowed nicely. This is ALL real wear, not me carving at it with a screwdriver or anything like that (there IS one chip/dent on the front where I accidentally dropped a screwdriver while setting it up, though).

I've played between 30-50 gigs with my 60th, and look forward to many more.

And when it gets too banged up, I'll definitely continue to use the neck on a new body, and store the original body. But that's years from now. For now, I'm still playing it every day.

I haven't read the whole thread (648 messages are a little too much) but, have anyone seen the Mexican version of the 60th Anniversary P-Bass?

I bought one a couple of month ago (new) and I haven't found anything about it in the Fender website, just a couple of pictures with no reference to the 60th Anniversary

Does anyone have a 2011 Fender catalog to check it for me? I'd like to know if this is a limited edition (I presume) and how many were made

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide,

Regards... Nacho

BTW: Here are some pics of mine... (notice the non-standard color used in this bass)

Thank you Rip, I was trying to clarify this...

I'm more than happy with this bass, I bought it as a cheap backup bass in order to give my Alembic Orion 6 some rest and I've got really impressed with this one, and I bought it brand new for about 500$ (around 80$ cheaper than Amazon)

Thanks again...

Nice color!

Nice color!

Thanks StrangerDanger, I like it too...

About the color, does anyone know the exact name of this color (pattern)? I can't find it in the Fender Color Chart Invalid Link Removed

It seems to be a burst of darker brownish "Midnight Wine" (75) at the borders and "Sunfire Orange Flake" (96) in the middle

Might be Copperburst or Copperburst Metallic. I THINK they came out with a color like that recently. I could very well be wrong about that. If so, somebody should be along soon to tell us the exact name.

Edit: Might be Sunset Metallic (#70 on the Fender Color chart you attached earlier). When you go into the chart, select "Metallic". Then scroll down till you see that. Hard to tell from that little swatch, but it DOES look like it's a metallic burst.

Well indeed it looks like Sunset Metallic, although this color doesn't show any sparkling glitter that is visible in my bass, maybe it was a painter's whim :D

A few days ago I found some official but undocumented Fender pictures of this bass, but they are no longer online, which tells me maybe this is a discontinued color

Fender website screenshot, you can see this in the main Fender Precision page (Invalid Link Removed)

Donloaded image, this is not available anymore, it was the main picture when you entered the Standard Precision Bass section

I'll keep looking, it drives me crazy not to know the exact name of this color, and thanks Jeff K your comment gives me some new directions I haven't thought yet...
