Fender 70s PB + Tech21 VTBD

Hey, I just ordered a Fender '70s Precision Bass (mexican, couldn't get the japanesse) in olympic white and a Tech 21 VT Bass Deluxe pedal. That will arrive to my country in less than one month.

Do you guys think it's a good mix? I play mostly 80's classic rock and hard rock style music in a cover band and kind of Rock/Pop music with another band.

I know it's better test the instruments before you buy it but could no test any of them here in Arequipa Perú, so I've just take the decision based on the youtube videos.

It's a great mix. Classic rich sound of P-bass.

Haven't tried the VT pedal but I've heard great things, and it's hard to beat a P bass for usable tones

I just got a used Japanese 70s precsion this week and have had a VT Deluxe for a while. It's a fantastic combo IMO.

There are lots of good threads around here with suggested VT bass settings if you want to do some searches and a lot of reading.

Off the top of my head I’d say I run the drive and character between 10 and 11 o-clock, the treble around 9 o-clock, and the bass and mid somewhere around 12. That’s at least a decent starting spot IMO. Small changes make a big, big difference on that pedal so just experiment and have fun.

My VTBD turns any bass into a monster, but none to greater effect than a J-bass (since that is what I spent the time tweaking my custom settings with). I would imagine that creating 6 different settings for a P would not be much different.

PS: it's so difficult for here buy good stuff, so anytime I buy something, and have to wait to any of my friends fly back to Perú, it's so long way the waiting time ....lol
