Fender 800 Pro

I am looking into purchasing a Fender 800 pro and want to know if anyone has any experience or knowledge about how good they are regarding overall volume and tone. I cant seem to find any in local stores to try out, So im going to trust you guys. I know Fender took over Sunn amps a few years back, and they were always known for their quality. Anyway, the 800 pro can pump out 800watts @ 4ohms, and 1200watts @ 2 ohms! So i assume it is pretty powerful. And I'll be playing it through an Ampeg 810. Any input on it would be great.

yeah, the 800 PRO sounds good to my ears, if you've heard the 400 PRO, it's pretty much the same front end, but with the Fender Monoblock power section (it does go very loud!)

It has plenty of tone adjusting options (similar to the eden amps), so you should be able to find plenty of sounds in there, plus if you can't you can always look at getting any preamp afterwards and run it through the fx return and just use the pweramp part :-)

IME it is quite a tight and fast sounding amp, pretty clean too

Thanks for all the info, i just purchased one on ebay for $500 virtually brand new! This should be quite an upgrade from my Ampeg b2re. I do love the little ampeg's tone, but it just doesnt have the power my band needs. I'll post again when i get the 800Pro with my opinions on how it sounds through my 810.

I tried out an 800pro just about two years ago and I thought it was a great sounding piece, even there new generation of bass cabs I thought sounded really good as well.
There biggest problem is that no one wants too spend that much money on equipment that gets very little recognition in the market place, look at what you bought a used one for:rolleyes:
That was a great buy, you should be very pleased with it.

Well I got my amp last week, and after practicing several times with a full band the Fender 800 pro has more than proved itself. I've tweaked it and really found the tone I'm looking for. Its very clean(which i actually prefer) and also extremely thick and has tons of thumping power. At around half volume it is significantly louder than the Ampeg B2RE in clipping. I have tons of headroom, and can virtually overpower both guitarist if i so chose, although there would be no one left standing, of course. Nonetheless, that is a great feeling! Anyway thanks for all of the input on this wonderful piece. I am extremely satisfied with this purchase, and as long as it is reliable and doesnt quit on me, i will be playing through it for a very long time. GAS is gone...for now.
