Fender ACB50 review

I finally got to use my amp on Thursday with our group. I thought it sounded great. I used my music man bongo 5 with it. After practice was over my know it all guitar player said that the b string sounded muddy. I could make out my notes just fine. He compared it to my ampeg SVT vr and said the vr didn’t have that problem. You can’t compare those two amps!! They are not meant to be compared. Keep in mind that I turned my bass knob on Chanel one at around 2 o’clock because if hearing about the midrange on this amp. I also turned the mid knob to high. I had a small solo and the acoustic guitar player said it sounded really good. Keep in mind he doesn’t like the bongo to start with probably because of its looks. So here is my question. Those of you that own the amp, does it work better with a passive 4 string bass than an active 5 string? Is my guitar player on to something? Or do you see no reason why it couldn’t work with my bongo. He thinks it would sound better with my 5 string stingray special. Still active and still 5 strings!! I do have a fender American special 4 string jazz bass but for whatever reason it doesn’t have any sustain to it. Not like my music man basses. And I just changed the strings on it. I use roundwounds. All I’m saying is that it’s hard to believe this amp would make anything sound muddy. He did say my other notes sounded fine, it was just the top string when I hit the notes hard. So I don’t know if it’s my technique or this amp and low b strings. In the meantime I plan on having a setup done on my fender because I feel like something can be done to improve the sustain on it. Then again I’m comparing it to superior instruments
