EDIT TO THE LAST POST; There is a somewhat recent model that seems to be a hybrid of several Japanese and American Fenders...the Fender Made In Japan Modern Jazz Bass. It has the arch-top of an Aerodyne and the preamp, bridge and compound neck radius of various MIA Standard/Deluxe Fenders. It is, also, available as fours and fivers.

As much as I love the Deep Ocean Metallic color, if I were to ever score a used one (that's right...they're already discontinued! ), I would probably go for the Jasper Olive Metallic. I miss my MIA Standard's Jade Pearl Metallic finish and the Jasper is pretty damn close. (...after some minor mods to make it look more like my MIA Standard, of course! )

My P has a more noticeable change in tone. Absolutely no loss in high end. I play my Ps tone off and this one is the brightest of the two. Granted mine has a maple board and yours rosewood. Sounds like you need to find " your " set up for Precisions or maybe they're just not for you overall. My Ps are setup differently than my Js. Tone is a weird thing to explain in words and even more weird to understand why others like a certain one when to others it may sound horrible. I would try some new strings and tweaking your eq until you find your tone. Don't give up on a good precision. Treat her right and she will always be there for you. She may not be a bombshell but she's got personality. Once you break that shy exterior, you've got a friend forever internally.

Nice! If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it! Good luck in hunting one down!

As a "just in case", I ran the digits through Fender's serial number tracker and it comes up with a "no model found" or something. It probably has something to do with it being a short-lived Factory Special Run, as opposed to a regular production model. And then, there's the scarcity of good tracking for MIJ/CIJ models.

All that being said, I wonder which company hired FMIC to do that FSR?

I haven't seen one up close and personal, but having owned that MIA Standard Jazz for a while, there is a faint trace of gold-flake mixed into the green. That's probably what gives it the Jade Metallic sheen.

I'm not 100% sure, but I may have found a similar shade in Subaru's "Autumn Green Metallic" finish. It, too, has a color-shift effect, depending on how the light hits it. To that effect, I may use it in a Fender Jazz refinish sometime in the future, only with gold hardware, instead of chrome.

Sorry about the jargon. They mean "Made In Japan" and "Crafted In Japan", respectively. Here's a link telling a large part of the Fender-Japan/FMIC/Kanda-Shokai story. For example, my 2007-ish Aerodyne was labeled "Crafted In Japan" or "CIJ" for short.

I informed them of the error and they offered to send a return shipping label and send me a dolphin grey one, but the one they sent balances and plays well so I am going to keep it. I was on the fence between the 2 finishes anyway.

They’re pretty upstanding. They took back my white P Bass with no issue and fully refunded me. Great store.

Just got mine in and switched to quarter pounders because I like em and had some laying around.

This is the white p bass. One question I also have a spare fender hi-mass bridge.

Babciz or Fender Hi-Mass would love some opinions so I can button it up.

Do the new Aerodynes have the flat spot on the body for the bridge, like the older models? And will the Babicz bridge fit on an older 2012 model?

For a short period of time, I owned a 2013 gibson eb4 with a babicz that never needed tweaking thankfully, as I was a little intimidated by it. I haven’t swapped the bridge off of either of my aerodynes. I just set them up the other day and the babicz is pretty simple to work with.

Eyeballing it, that portion looks flat to me. Website listing for a z series fch4 babicz says it’s a drop in for basses with .75” spacing and a 5 hole fender screw pattern. I would only consider swapping if I knew for certain that another bridge would provide better balance or if I wanted more points of adjustment. So far, I dig it!

I was between the two myself and went with the Dolphin because it was the only jazz listed for $599 at the time. Kinda made the decision for me but I'm really glad I got it. I know I would've been happy either way because truthfully the best part of these basses is the neck! The fact they sent that you might just be a sign.
