There are rumors that the three band Audere fits without modification, but I can't confirm that. What I can confirm is that you have to route out the back cavity a bit to get a 4-band in. just a couple of millimeters, and the original plate still covers it completely, but I had to do a little surgery to get that in. Great payoff, though! My Aerodyne keeps up with my Fodera, which is also an excellent player, but 6 times the price!

Yeah... it's why I keep trying to justify having an Aerodyne. I sold the first two "stock" ones that I had. Then I modded a 3rd, and came close to keeping it. This one, so far... sounds/feels the best. Guess we'll see what happens. Hoping that I can get used to that sharp edge, as I really like the way that this bass turned out. This neck is PHENOMINAL !!!The binding is my favorite part.
Same here. To me, the binding and the arch top are what make an Aerodyne an Aerodyne.The binding is my favorite part.
I've probably said it before, but it's worth reaffirming; When my 'Dyne was my one-and-only bass, I had no problem with the binding, either. After getting more Jazz basses, then switching back to the 'Dyne for a while, I felt the binding bite into my forearm.

How well do you think the flat pickguard will conform to the slightly arched top of the body when/if you screw it down? Do you think it’ll be a problem?

Scroll [edit] down (I initially typed "up") a bit. I put DP123's in mine. Changed the dinky little pots to a DiMarzio solderless 250k harness, and... it friggin' rocks !!! I'm still trying to get past the binding, as I can't stand the feel of the "sharp edge", but LOVE the aesthetic.

It would appear I've randomly stumbled upon one of my great, Sasquatch/Nessie-level basses...one that I thought I'd never get a decent price on. I only just purchased it online, but if all goes well, I'll soon be the proud owner of a 2007-2010, Non-Export, AJB Aerodyne in an oh-so-lovely U.S. Gunmetal Blue! (For the record, the official finish code is "UGB".
In other words, it's flippin' metallic teal! Huzzah!!
Of course, like a dunce, I didn't grab the full-resolution pics before the ad was taken down, so these will have to do, for now...until I take some proper photos or it needs to be returned. We'll have to wait and see how this plays out. Either way, wish me luck, people!
The neck pup and bridge are definitely aftermarket. I don't know about the bridge pup, though. Apparently, some of the finish on the side, near the control plate, came off and was filled in by a previous owner. Given how much these finishes crack and chip, it's not really a big deal to me, especially since it isn't that visible from the front.
There is a chance, however, that I might remove some/all of the aftermarket doo-dads, do a little routing and convert it to a J/J system. I can't say for sure. I have a set of Seymour Duncan Apollo pickups waiting patiently to be given a good shakedown trial. But then, I also remember how sweet a couple of Fender Custom Shop '60s sets I've previously used sounded. Decisions...decisions...
Regardless of what I do to and/or with it in the future, the most important goal is for it to feel good in my own, two hands.
