Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass

Hello,

I have a fender Aerodyne Jazz bass on hold as of now for $300. Now, I know the new ones retail about $800+. I got the serial number and according to the dating system it was made 2002-2004. Online said the bass was first imported to US in ‘04 so does that mean it is most likely from the first run of these basses? Really I want to know more info about the bass in general and also if I should get off my as5 and buy it or withdraw on the hold.

Sounds like an amazing deal. I can't remember an Aerodyne in the wild for less than $500 or so. I'm curious to know what magic decisive words you are hoping to hear here. Other than, yes, if I found an AJ that cheap, Ida already bought it.

The Aerodyne first appeared in the Fender Frontline in 2003, so I imagine it would have been available in the US before '04 … the 'for export' model anyhow, without the fret markers and no pickguard … it was also at the NAMM show in Jan of '03 ..

… the 'not for export' models would have been at least a few years later in '05/6 likely... they also make a 'not for export' medium scale

I’ve attached the only photos I could get, Original ad was listed less $ but I had offered a higher amount in return of taking down the ad. I’ve stayed up all night all anxious about this thing. No fret markers no pick guard / control plate. Flush mount output jack, non strat style. Pickups non stock though. Basslines qtr pounder. Damn thing even comes with the case. Couple small chips in body. Missing pot cap & electronics cover

Waiting on seller now. Boy am I lucky to have sent the first message to them. Saw ad at 4am Monday, during my search for a p bass neck. (I was gifted a p bass body found in a dumpster by a buddy while he took out trash over the weekend) putting that project on stand by

Well, mission accomplished. Here we are, $300 later (I now have $4.07 and a half smoked cigarette to my name.... but I do own 5 bass guitars. HAH. Did a little photoshoot check it out!

Real quick.. Should I throw the Fender USA Brass Bridge ? It does fit the recessed housing .. I want to use it because it’s not selling.
